Creating Intentional Space as a form of Nervous System Regulation

“Simplifying, organizing and creating intentional space is a form of self care and nervous system regulation.” ~Catherine Clapp

“The objective of cleaning is not just to clean, but to feel happiness living within that environment.” ~ Marie Kondo

How does your space make you feel when you walk through the door? This question is that the heart of my work with simply light home. Every person will have a different answer for many different reasons.  What do you see?  What do you hear?  What are the smells that rise to meet you.

When our homes are clean, when we are surrounded by what we use and love, when things are organized and have place they belong we feel it. Our nervous system feels it.  We can relax, breathe and feel held. There are so many different ways that people curate their space but at the heart of it is knowing what feels good to you; being in touch with what resonates with you.  For some it might be lavish decorations, textures and colors that please their senses.  For others it might be white walls with cleared off surfaces.  It all starts with you knowing yourself.  Tuning in to what you feel…being aware of your own energy, and the energy that surrounds you. Why not start today and simply be aware of how you feel when you walk into your home?  Or to be even more simple maybe choose one room in your home that you spend a lot of time in and tune in to how you feel in that space. I’d love to know more about how this resonates for you.
